CPX Interactive Site

CPX is attempting to position themselves as a complete solution for publishers looking for advertising inventory. One of the most notable developments in this direction is the creation of premium-level network for larger clients with correspondingly larger payouts. Perhaps this focus on bigger publishers explains why, for smaller publishers, some basic issues in payment, functionality and service remain.  To date, CPX’s move into a first-tier ad network is still experiencing some significant growing pains.

For those looking for a second to third-tier remainent option, the advertising offerings on CPX may be tempting. Publishers attempting to top up their inventory are given control in opting out of ads and filtering to the choices that suit them best, and all at competitive rates. The problems with CPX lie in back-end fulfillment, contact and functionality. Users report issues with prompt payment, inability to contact customer service and the publisher user interface is un-intuitive.

Interface: 5/10

Positive:

Professional in appearance

Negative:

Unnecessary add-ons without simple access to the information that’s most important.

Experienced publisher will benefit most from the offering available of the CPX interface. For newbie’s, the lack of explanation of site functions, confusion in basic navigation and a complete lack of a F.A.Q. section may shut them out altogether. While giving publishers the opportunity to access detailed reports of earning seems in theory a good idea, forcing them through a maze to retrieve that information simply defeats the purpose.

Support services: 7/10

Positive:

Personal rep assigned to every file. 1-800 number for contact.

Negative:

Slow response time to online service questions and requests

Described as uneven at best, the CPX track record with customer service varies widely. Response time for online queries could range from a day to week to never. The consensus opinion seems to be that calling the 1-800 number typically yields good service from knowledgeable reps. Questions arising from payment schedules, however, are sometimes left unanswered and never followed up on.

Payment Schedule and Payment Options: 6/10

Positive:

PayPal payment option available

Negative:

Unresponsive to payment detail and execution requests.

Before signing up with CPX, consider the returns you’re expecting. At a 60% payout percentage (NET 30, $50 minimum payout) some users found the threshold for real returns underwhelming.  This coupled with an inconsistent performance in providing timely information on payment details and CPX starts to look like even less of an option for smaller publishers.

eCPM: 4/10

Positive:

100% global fill rate

Negative:

Astonishingly low ecpms for low to medium quality traffic.

Overall rating: 5/10 - Average

CPX is a very fast growing player that may just work out some of the kinks in its service chain.  As a professional option for publishers looking to the third-tier networks, it still merits a test.
